Uses SMART board and Notebook software, and has lots of templates he will email you. Many of his templates can be easily recreated in RM Easiteach software. He also points out that Notebook software can work with ANY interactive white board (IWB)- the computer doesn't know the difference, but SMART doesn't want you to know that because they would rather sell you their entire system!

These are some of the websites that have templates or shared lessons available to download. SMART and Promethian are included because they can spark ideas.

Lessons Learned from Kurt

  • One of the things I learned about SMART boards is that there is a record feature. This allows the teacher to prerecord the lesson and then place a small group at the IWB to work independently as a center. I wonder if there is something like that on Polyvision eno?
  • Always have a hard copy for students to interact at their seats with while they wait for their turn to come to the board. Students can color their hard copy while one student colors on the IWB. This can be used with learning the placement of QWERTY keys on a keyboard.

Ideas for using IWB:
Create and use pictorial input charts.
Record data on charts
Allowing students to "check in" for attendence
Mystery Word
Creating avatars by tracing a photo, then delete the photo and save the drawing.
